The recent history of Central America, within which armed conflicts developed within the framework of the Cold War stand out, has also made an important contribution to the construction of violent practices and the impairment of rights, which necessarily leads to consider that the serious The panorama of security in the region has to do with the fact that flows are not motivated solely by situations of economic precariousness. This is not to say that this is not one of the most significant motivations. An investigation carried out by the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, identifies the different contexts that become motivations for migration in each of the countries, with important similarities between the countries of the Northern Triangle. In the case of Mexico, organized crime violence, which mainly affects populations in the northern region, stands out among the other factors. However, family (re) unification is a common factor that motivates migration in all the countries considered in the study. In the case of the Northern Triangle of Central America, the search for better living conditions stands out as the main motivation, but also violence, especially in El Salvador and Honduras (IIHR, 2016).
