INTRODUCTION EXTRACT

This publication, "Childhood Counts in Mexico," honors the data-driven advocacy methodology that REDIM has developed and maintained for 18 years. Choosing a problem, investigating it, analyzing the available data, and making visible the violations of the rights of children and adolescents is a primary objective. We also aim to frame these violations of their rights as a public issue, as part of the broader human rights agenda in our country, and with the same level of urgency as the serious human rights violations suffered by adults; because part of the challenge we face is that children are not always considered when addressing these problems.

Thus, Childhood Counts in Mexico has been a useful tool to, through empirical evidence and the rigor of data science, account for new meanings for a society that constantly needs to explain itself, as well as build knowledge in a changing reality in which we urgently need to place children and adolescents as rights holders, as agents of change, as a source of truth, hope and inspiration.
