Childhood and Adolescence: Victims of Crime in Mexico 2021

From January to December 2020, the SESNSP has registered 24,808 cases of crime victims between 0 and 17 years of age. This figure is lower than that registered in 2019 during the same months (28,147 cases), however, 2019 had been the year with the most crimes registered against children and adolescents since 2015.


Registries had decreased significantly from the date the National Healthy Distance Day began (March 23); However, since May, crimes against people from 0 to 17 years of age increased month after month, particularly corruption of minors (1,669 cases in 2020) and injuries (12,177 in 2020). Other crimes that increased since April are: extortion (206 cases in 2020); abduction (110 cases in 2020) and human trafficking (262 cases in 2020).
